It’s good to be home and settled again. I got back to Philadelphia from my trip out to Postural Restoration Institute‘s Advanced Integration course in Lincoln on Sunday at midnight. Lincoln’s airport was an interesting experience. It was one of those places where they had one cab driver on call for the entire city…who also doubled as airport security, flight attendant and pilot.

“And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. At six foot five a solid meaty 215 pounds… your pregame announcer, your owner, your coach… your pop-singing sensation, but most importantly… your power forward… yours truly, Jackie Moon!”

The course itself was a great experience, and one that I’ll inevitably be referencing frequently in the near future. Not only was the information powerful, but as the only strength coach in a room of 55, speaking with the other attendees was equally as insightful as the course itself. It’s these educational and networking experiences that I rely on for continuing to improve as a professional in the field. Regarding PRI specifically, information from their courses provides the explanation for the staggering proportion of the general population that suffers from femoroacetabular impingement (see: An Updated Look at FAI), and is a major reason why I’m able to successfully work with current and former athletes that suffer from a myriad of hip injuries successfully.

As highly as I speak of PRI (and deservedly so), they are certainly not the only educational resource that I rely on. Since June, I’ve attended/completed 10 different seminars/courses to help broaden and deepen my understanding of material from Functional Movement Systems, USA Weightlifting, USA Hockey, and people like Joe Dowdell and Mike Roussell (among others). I also have a formidable stack of research on energy systems, heart rate variability, and GPS tracking that I’ve worked my way through in the last month. I say all that, not to boast, but simply to put things in perspective. If you want to be good at anything, it’s going to take two things:

  1. Focused, consistent work/practice
  2. Time

I consider myself very fortunate to have learned these lessons early from people like Mike Boyle and Eric Cressey. In my experience, the people that struggle in the fitness profession are those that, at some point, assume their educational journey is over and shut it down. This same thing can be said of almost every profession AND can be applied to athletes. There is always something or someone out there that can help you, and it’s wise to proactively seek these resources out.

Unfortunately, I’m not much of a business man. I’m not passionate about business; I’m passionate about athletic development and hockey training. That said, educating myself on contemporary marketing strategies is a “necessary evil” so to speak, as it doesn’t matter how much I, or the rest of the Endeavor staff, knows about training if no one knows we exist. With that in mind, I’m conscious of spending some (as little as possible) of my continuing education time on business-related materials. Over the last several years, the single best business resource I’ve come across is the Fitness Business Blueprint from Pat Rigsby, Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson.

I continue to refer back to my notes from their videos, and have used their information to reshape all of the internal and external business systems within Endeavor. Unlike many business resources, it’s not based on theory, it’s based on implementable steps and action plans, which makes things easier for the not-so-business savvy people like me. The GOOD thing about business resources is that if you apply the information correctly, the investment pays itself off many times over. The GREAT thing about this particular resource, which usually runs for $299, is that they’re offering a $1 30-day trial, at which point you’ll still receive a $100 discount off the package price and can divide the payments up across two months. Simply, you save $100 AND you get to try it for 30 days for a $1 before you make any commitment. If you’re an action taker, you’ll have made enough money to pay for the package by the end of your 30-day trial! Click here for more information: Fitness Business Blueprint

Remember that the path towards excellence in any area is an ongoing journey. Too many people quit right before their big break. Keep moving forward; it will be worth it in the end!

To your success,

Kevin Neeld

P.S. As with many great opportunities, the $1 trial for Fitness Business Blueprint will only be available for the next 72 hours so take action now and click here for more information on how you can get your hands on the best fitness business resource out there: Fitness Business Blueprint!

If you’re on the fence about Fitness Business Blueprint you’ve probably had some of these same questions. Pat Rigsby just fired me over responses to a few of the most frequently asked questions he’s received after announcing the new resource. Check it out below:

Do I have to have an existing training business to benefit from Fitness Business Blueprint?

Answer: Ideally, Fitness Business Blueprint would work best if you have your own business or at least the desire to start one. Because at the end of the day, that’s where your long-term success will come from.

But that being said, having your own business is NOT mandatory to benefit from Fitness Business Blueprint.  You can still benefit if you are an employee or a contractor in someone else’s business by learning how to be a better coach, a better marketer and a better salesperson.

But at some point, you’ll want to have the freedom that running your own business provides. And by using what you learn from us to build your own business, you’ll achieve that in record time.

What if I’m brand new to the fitness industry. Is Fitness Business Blueprint right for me?

Answer: That’s one we’re getting a lot. And it’s a legitimate concern.

So here’s the deal…

If you know absolutely nothing about coaching, have no training experience whatsoever, and are a complete novice in the industry, then this probably isn’t for you.

Because Fitness Business Blueprint is not one of those products that don’t ask you to be good at your craft, we ask more of you than the average ‘marketer’ would before investing in this product.

If you have no training background, then you need to study your craft.

Dig in to Mike and Eric’s materials as well as some of the other coaching / training resources that we recommend.  Only after you’ve done that legwork will FBB yield it’s true benefit to you. And if you’re willing to actually spend the time learning your craft, then apply what we show you, then you’ll be starting a business armed with a skill-set entrepreneurs everywhere only wish they had when they started.

You’ll avoid all the paralyzing mistakes while consistently building a successful and profitable business. But, by simply utilizing what you learn in Fitness Business Blueprint, you’ll be able to avoid the dreaded “overworked and underpaid” stage and ascend to having the business you want much faster than you ever thought possible.

Can I go through Fitness Business Blueprint at my own pace?

Answer: Absolutely. You get access to the entire Fitness Business Blueprint package so you can go through the material at whatever pace you feel most comfortable.  No rush, no pressure.

I already have some other fitness business products. Is Fitness Business Blueprint different?

Answer: I’ve seen every product on the market and have created a number of them myself – and yes it’s different.

Fitness Business Blueprint takes you inside both Mike and Eric’s businesses and they share things that you just don’t get from my or any other business building products.

While some of the concepts that are shared in FBB are things that have been taught before in all of our products, nothing like this has ever been compiled in one comprehensive resource designed specifically to build a successful fitness business before.

About a week ago, my friend Eric Cressey let me know about a new resource he was releasing with Pat Rigsby and Mike Robertson called the Fitness Business Blueprint.

Being a co-owner at Endeavor Sports Performance has forced me to take a more proactive role on the business side of things, which wasn’t really my strong point. Training and coaching comes pretty naturally, but understanding how to optimize the business mechanics…not so much.

Over the last few years I’ve been fortunate to receive guidance in this area from guys like Eric and Pat Rigsby, who have been influential in some of the changes we’ve made to our business in the past and plan to make in the near future. The thing that appeals to me about their “business advice” is that it’s always centered around delivering the most beneficial service possible. Pat says that his job is to help make coaches/business “the best coach/business they can be.” That’s a noble undertaking and certainly flies in contrast to the greedy business ventures who seek only to run a maximum number of kids through a glorified gym class without any semblance of a plan, but then market it as revolutionary athletic development.

I realize not everyone reading this runs their own business, but I thought I’d bring this to your attention anyway. Fitness Business Blueprint doesn’t just cover sales and marketing, it also covers what most business products seem to overlook completely, like:

  • Staff Training
  • Assessments
  • Program Design
  • Personal Development

There’s more to it than that, but those are some of the big topics that you can’t find information on from a business standpoint anywhere. For those that pick up a copy today, Pat is giving away a Private Workshop (Normally $1197) as a bonus.

I think the greatest display of pure bliss the human race ever encounters is when a young kid is handed a tall cone of delicious ice cream on a hot day. You see their eyes get bigger as the cone approaches their hands, and after a couple licks they get that sugar-enhanced look of psychotic happiness.

But from time-to-time, this happens:

and third-party bystanders get to observe the rapid reversal of the aforementioned progression of joy and the inevitable hysteria-driven water works and siren-like harmony that emerge from the kid.

This circumstantial description closely resembles the emotional roller coaster I went on recently when I found out about the 2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar.

Check out the presenters/schedule for this event:

9:00 – 10:00 – Brian Grasso: We’re Killing Kids! Why Current Sports Performance Training Methods are Stupid

10:10 – 11:10 – Lee Taft: How to Load the System for Functional Speed

11:20 – 12:20 – Mike Robertson: The Single-Leg Solution

12:20 – 1:30- Lunch

1:30 – 2:30 – Pat Rigsby: Finding Hidden Opportunity in Your Fitness Business

2:40 – 3:40 – Bill Hartman: Energy System Training for Field Athletes

4:30 – 5:30 – Brett Jones: Kettlebell Basics: How to Integrate Kettlebells Into Your Strength & Conditioning Program

With a list like this, the big question is “How much?” Incredibly, the seminar only requires a $149 investment (that is-if I registered before July 24th…plenty of time). Before reading any further about the seminar I opened up my go-to barrage of flight tabs to price shop on the cheapest flight possible from Baltimore to Indianapolis.

Full of ice-cream induced child-like excitement, I returned to the 2010 Midwest Performance Enhancement Seminar page to see when it was so I could book my flight and that’s when it hit me. The schedule gods batted that cone out of my hand like Ben Wallace protecting his net.

Unfortunately for me, the seminar is on August 28th, which is the weekend Emily and I are moving from Baltimore to Philadelphia (fortunate for me). Yes, after 15 months of commuting two hours from our place in Baltimore to Endeavor in South Jersey, we’re making the move to save my hips and sanity, and to move closer to where Emily wants to go to grad school. It’s just bad timing.

I’m pretty bummed I can’t make it…but that doesn’t mean you can’t! The list of presenters is really amazing; you’d have to be crazy (or moving) to miss this. Check out the link below for more information.
